Dåseberga Lighthouse

In Dåseberga there is a higher hill suitable close to the harbour which then became the right spot for the lighthouse. This also means that it is not necessary to build a very high lighthouse, it gets high enough anyway.

What I used

The Dåseberga lighthouse is the result of kit-bashing or re-design of an existing kit. In this case an addition to an industrial building from Vollmer that became the house part, and the lower end of an industrial chimney that became the lighthouse tower. All this finished with a scratch built lamp haouse at the top.

The picture above shows the build when the parts are fitted together. The chimney part is standing direcftly onto the house roof and I made a door on to the roof from the "chimney". The lighthouse guard must have a chance to get out onto the roof to study the horizon through his binoculars.

The platform and railing around the lamp house is made from a piece of plasticard and posts and railings from brass from the box of useful parts. A tube-shaped lower part with glazing above will provide room for the lamp. What is not shown is that the light is made from a white LED that has been slightly sanded to spread the light better.

At this stage the build is closing in on being done. The complete lighthouse part is done and fitted. An exterior lamp above the door to the lighthouse is also fitted but looking too big. It will be replaced with another N-scale light for better proportions. A small seagull has also arrived standing on one of the corners of the lighthouse "balcony".

In the last picture we can see lighthouse guard Nils (NIsse) Blixt looking out over the sea towards the horizon. Nils is also the "CEO" for the regional sea rescue force in Dåseberga and have the responsibility to make sure it is always up to standard. A little below the lighthouse we can also see the few visible parts of the bunker guarding the horbour from attacks from sea. This particular part id the surveillance look-out.

The lighthouse has been given the same charateristics as the Kullens Fyr on Kullaberg in Skåne at the southwest coast of Sweden.

Enjoy!
